Nothing of Consequence

happy to see an FU

Just glad Epic Fu is back releasing podcasts…  Or else I may not have seen this awesomely produced video with questionable music…

Stories and Old Spice

Some good stories this week that you may or may not have known about…

  • 17 Million prople stopped buying CD’s in 2008 [Ars Technica]
  • Virginity rates by collegiate major [forwardon]
  • Charlotte Bobcats seeded 7th in NIT [Onion] – Pacers must not have been invited…
  • Google Offers 500,000 for free on Sony Reader [Mashable]
  • Drunken vomiting in UK caught by Google Streetview [Gizmodo]
  • Spinal Tap returns, and gets photoshopped [Photoshop Disasters]

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a fan of the Old Spice marketing campaigns for a few years…  The new Tony Stweart add is pretty funny [link], but my favorite is the one below that was usually cropped for time…

It’s the line “and we’ll buy you a stick of something that smells like wildflowers and shame”

talk about FPS [video]

The video below is just a bunch of examples of extremely high rate video…  Somewhere in the 5,000 to 10,000 frames per second (the typical video a normal camera takes is in the 24-30 frames per second).

Apparently this is a commercial with a political message, hence the category inclusion…  And while I agree agree with the message, it’s posted mostly for the video…

I’d love to be the production staff that gets to specialize in this type of video.  Imagine the daily meetings where the question is always “what are we going to shoot next?”

Oh yeah, the opera is a nice touch as well…

the score / soundtrack [video]

So I was doing a little mindless surfing to some semi-usual sites this morning, and I ran across a video that I absolutely love.

It’s below, but as an FYI it’s 4.5 mintes and requires sound.

Basically someone edited together clips from Ferris Buler’s Day Off using a classical score which.  The choice of shots with the music makes it feel like a COMPLETELY different movie.  Something more serious or akin to Garden State.

Nerf War [video]

I needed this today…

The Great Office War – Watch more Funny Videos

Flickr [video]

Flicker recently started to support video, so this is my first test of it. It’s also me trying to see if it will work in conjunction with my blog.

Another Lapse of Time [video]

This is one I did a year ago tomorrow. These look so much better uncompressed on my machine, but they are still fun enough on YouTube to bother posting.

Insurance [video]

Yes, this is a real commercial that is not a joke… But it is…

Da Bears [video]

Just saw this on Jalopnik… These are some determined animals…

The format wars [video]

I’m not sure if anyone who reads this has been following conflicts that will decide the next format of our home movies… But I saw this on Gizmodo this morning, and it’s a nicely accurate summary of the current landscape. Plus it’s a way to make fun of Hitler. There are some naughty words in this video, but only written… There may be more in German, but that’s not a language I know.

NOTE: the first time I posted this, the clip was removed from YouTube within a day or two… I had to find it again and re-post it…

ADDITIONAL NOTE: alas, it has been perpetually removed… so instead of re-posting this video over and over, I recommend that you look for a video on YouTube that’s about the HD-DVD and Hitler.
