Nothing of Consequence

Quite the stretch of days

Yesterday was a weird day. It was surreal to see the events in Washington, and more so to have a chance to speak to my mother who was there in the midst of it all.

The speech has been resonating a little more with me than it did when he gave it, but it still comes nowhere close to calming my apprehension about the continually deteriorating economy. Part of me want to ask how things can be so bad with so many people able to afford the trip to DC. How can things be so bad with 10 inaugural balls in DC alone? Think of the hundreds of millions of dollars spent over the past 3 or so days by the government and by private citizens.

I also was around on Facebook a few times throughout the day, and I’m still flabbergasted by the overreaction from the hardcore right. Someone I went to high school with commented at around 1 am yesterday morning that she couldn’t sleep because all this “change” scared her. Someone else was going on about increased tax dollars going toward paying for abortions in 3rd world countries. I just don’t get it. These are all supposedly educated people as well.

But I’ll put all that behind me because another hope of mine comes to fruition tonight. How do you ask? It’s the season premiere of Lost.

Hell yeah!

I know that my most loyal commenter has never regained an affinity for the show, but I’m really past the point of return.  Even if the show sucks from now until the end of season 6, I’ve put in too much time to not see how things work out.  That’s not quite the most optimistic of statements, but I am looking forward to the show.  I’ve liked each season for different reasons, and I’m 90% sure that I’ll like it from here on out.

I know I’ll get to see Locke die at least once.

Quattro

So the fourth season of Lost has begun, and I haven’t mentioned it once here.  Not because of interest, but lack of time.

Has anyone rekindled their love of Lost?  Maybe started watching because of the strike?  Or are you just happy that they killed off the hobbit at the end of season 3?

I’m personally really digging the first two episodes of season 4.  That’s not to say that the rest of the season can’t turn to crap…  But I have high expectations for the rest of the series…  So far, so good.

It Works Every Time

I Love Billy Dee Williams… And apart from the apparent reasons, I may love him even more in 15 days…

I have no idea what Mr. Williams has in store for me, but I’d love for him to become a weekly contributor to my entertainment…

Mr. LaShade is such a good name as well…

16 episodes…… In a row?

Tonight is the end of the hiatus / season splitting experiment that has been the third season of Lost. While I like a lot of what was in the first 6 episodes, I would have been better. And the break was just too long (add to that a lack of podcasts that they used to do so regularly, and fans get cranky).

Apparently, this season schedule has already been deemed a failure enough that next season will be 22 episodes in a row…

Or as Dante would say, try not to watch an episode on the way out to your car…

Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications

Tonight is the season premiere of the only TV show that really matters to me… I’m pumped…

3xLost

Yup, we’re t-minus one month until season three of Lost, and I’m ready to go…

In the off season, I got my Apollo Bar and the Season 2 DVD’s… It’s only gotten better and better the more I get into both the show and the fan experience. It’s a whole new way to both interact with the show that is interesting (some good and some bad)…

Anyway, I just hope Michael Bay doesn’t try and make a movie out of this series…

Most Lostest

So last night I made it through 12 episodes of season 1 of Lost. That’s right, half (or over half depending on how you look at it) of the first season. I picked up a few things I would have forgotten. Not as good, but still pretty darn good the second time around.

In doing some research nearing the end of my 12 episode bender, I stumbled on lostpedia.com. It’s a site that looks exactly like wikipedia, but with a lost twist. I warn anyone who is not up to speed not to go to the site until they are ready for more information than I knew was out there. The site is pretty good at giving spoiler alerts, but I’d just stay away just to be safe.

There are things so far out there from official ABC releases (i.e. podcasts, books, etc) that I’m not sure how to take that information. Looks like I have something more to do as I wait like a good boy for season three to start and for season 2 on DVD.

Sick and Lost

So I came down with strep throat yesterday. So I’ve been drinking my Twinings Earl Gray Green Tea (a lot of it) and vegging in front of the TV. Basically bored off my… you know. So bored that I wasted almost all of my energy going out and getting season one of Lost on DVD. I’m in the midst of watching it again, and taking a few notes a along the way.

What would make me do such a thing? This show is completely addictive, infuriating (in a good way), and simply the best thing on TV. It’s the only show I make an attempt to keep a regular basis. If we miss an episode, we shell out the dough to watch it on iTunes.

So I’m not here to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen it, or is still catching up on everything. But this is a ringing endorsement of its entertainment value for me to go to these lengths. I’m not sure how much longer I can wait to blog a little more in-depth about this stuff though. Catch up people.
