This Friday will be a new experience for me.  Kevin Smith has decided to try a new approach on the whole notion of how to distribute a film. And so I’ll be seeing a film months before its theatrical release.

I’m a fan of Kevin Smith.  I remember renting Clerks on Laser Disc.  Mallrats is what made me a Fan.  I’ve made an effort to see any movie he’s done in the theater.  I know why Chasing Amy is loved, but it’s not my favorite.  Dogma was great, as was the childish fun of Jay and Silent Bob.  Clerks II was a little disappointing, but three dialogue sequences make it more than worth it.

Let me go back a second.  You read it right.  I rented Clerks on Laser Disc.

That really has little to do with nothing.  The point of all this is that it’ll be a unique experience to see a filmmaker I like taking a movie around the country for screening to raise funds for distribution.  Given that the movie is not a typical Kevin Smith fare.  It’ll be more akin to the suspense / horror genres than comedy.  I’m still geeked for the experience and the peek inside the process in general.

But a friend is coming down from Chicago to attend with me.  I’m pretty sure I’ll do some tweeting during and some writing afterward.  Who knows…  maybe something more.
